Sharing Saro’s Songs
I've created a number of songs over the years that have made their way into community singing spaces. It's always powerful to learn where my songs have traveled and how they've resonated in different communities. Whether you've come across my justice songs, new folk hymns, or chants for pagan worship, you might be wondering how to share them and what kind of permission is needed.
Free events (song circles, pub sings, rallies, protests): You're welcome to share and teach any of my songs.
Compensated events (community choirs, performances): Please contact me to arrange a small donation.
Recording, covers, or arrangements for sale: Contact me to discuss compensation.

On the Song “There Are More Waters Rising”
My justice song “There Are More Waters Rising” has made its way around the world, being sung from India to Wales, Brazil to Australia. I’m so honored that this song has resonated for so many fighting for climate justice and social change. I also want to acknowledge that “There Are More Waters Rising” takes direct inspiration from African-American song traditions, and request that this fact be acknowledged whenever possible with performance of the song.
You can download notation and lyrics to this song here.
You can watch my original, DIY recording of the song here (and find much fancier versions floating around YouTube).
For one-off, paid performances of “There Are More Waters Rising,” I ask that you make a small donation ($15-$50) through Paypal at blairpathways@gmail.com. If you are performing the song in a series or part of a choir season, please contact me directly.
To record and distribute your arrangement of this song for digital streaming or album distribution, you must purchase a mechanical license directly through me.
Many artists have made arrangements of this song for choral performance, and those arrangements can be purchased through the proper distributors (no need to compensate me separately). Current compositions include this one by Saunder Choi and this one by the Podd Brothers.
