Pagan Song for the Seasons:
Learn a mix of rounds, chants, folk songs and parts songs rooted in tradition to ground you in the ritual year. Explore the folkways of Celtic and Neolithic holidays like Samhain (Halloween), the Winter Solstice, Bealtaine and more as Saro teaches you songs from- and inspired by- beliefs from the Anglo-Celtic Isles and beyond. You’ll walk away with powerful songs to energize you the year through!
Songs for Deities of the Anglo-Celtic Isles:
Connect to a potent mix of Celtic deities in this workshop exploring chants and parts songs of reverence, invocation and prayer. These songs, created by Saro and grounded in research and folk tradition, will help you gain a deeper connection and understanding of deities found in the Anglo-Celtic Isles both popular and lesser-known. Walk away with songs to Brigid, Lugh, Eostre and more!
Appalachian Mountain Songs Sampler:
Connect to the rich legacy of songs from Appalachia! In this workshop, we’ll learn a mix of ballads, hymns, lullabies, protest songs and more from Appalachia’s diverse legacy. Along the way, we’ll learn about key moments and movements in Appalachian history- from the enormous camp meetings of the 19th century to the labor wars of the 19th century, and beyond.
Introduction to Southern Appalachian Ballads:
Learn songs and folklore of the Appalachian ballad tradition! These story-songs of the mountain south are formed from a rich legacy of Scottish, English, Irish and African-American traditions. In this workshop, we’ll immerse ourselves in this ancient art form through a selection of songs taught “knee-to-knee” in the mountain region for hundreds of years!
Protest Songs of Appalachia and the American South:
Explore an energizing mix of protest and organizing songs from Appalachia’s rabble-rousing history! Through folk songs, communal songs and ballads, we’ll take a journey of people’s history: from the coal wars of Kentucky to the Civil Rights movement, to textile mill strikes and resistance to mountaintop removal mining.
