Spring Equinox/Ostara Sing + Ritual

Join us for this community sing and ritual celebrating the Spring Equinox and ancient spring festivals! Day and night stand in balance as the earth thaws and new growth emerges. Hope and inspiration stir in our bodies as we balance on this delicate cusp of summer. Today, many neopagans know this day as “Ostara” named for “Eostra,” an Anglo-Saxon goddess of the dawn, from which the Easter holiday takes its name. Though her worship is mentioned in one 8th century text, it’s a little unclear whether she was a true ancient deity. Regardless, today she is one of many symbols (eggs, the hare, garlands) that help us recognize the joyous onset of spring!

For this sing, bring songs about spring, the dawn, balance, eggs, hares, color, flowers and plants, light, growing up, warmth, and whatever else you want (themed songs not required!)! Secular songs are just as welcome as spiritual ones. **Songs good to sing in groups are encouraged!**

Saro will lead a short ritual during the last portion of the event.

Donations of $5+ are invited!

Saro will send a zoom link the day of the event.

This sing is part of a 2021 series I’m hosting called “Singing the Wheel of the Year,” sings and rituals that celebrate 8 neopagan holidays. These holidays are a mix of ancient harvest festivals, observances of solstices and equinoxes, and other historic celebrations largely drawn from Northern European traditions and revived in modern times.
